Not Just For Newbie's Guide
The following guide is mainly for newbies, but the experienced players may also learn something.

1) Practice. You know what they say, practice makes perfect. Downloading some bots may help you with this, as you wont always have to connect to the Internet. I recommend the NN Bot.
2) Think. It may seem obvious, but you'll be surprised at how many people who play Militia just run out into the open. Move from cover to cover; check all of your points. Walk, don't run.
3) Shooting. Unlike Quake, killing someone in Counter-Strike is hard, very hard. Get to know two or three guns. Remember their clip capacity, reload speeds, and power. Do not buy a weapon that you don't often use. It's a waste of money and, most probably, will turn out to be a waste of your life. Don't just keep your finger on the mouse button and hope for the best when shooting an automatic weapon. Short, controlled bursts are the best, especially with the AK47.
4) Grenades. These are very useful tools in the Counter-Strike world. If you are under heavy sniper fire, drop a smoke grenade and make a break for it. But be careful with HE grenades and flashbangs. Never throw a HE grenade in a confined space, as they may just bang back at you and always be in front of your teammates when using a flashbang.
5) Camp. I know that some people frown upon it, but they are just simple minded. Why run to them when they will run to you? If you are sniping, crouch. You will reduce your size by half. Also, try to find a dark corner; you'll see them before they see you.
6) Teams. Don't just stick to one team. If you are constantly a Terrorist, you won't know any of the Counter-Terrorist tactics and you'll be alien to their weapons.
7) Maps. As with the teams, vary you selection. You will want to know every inch of the map, not just the area near the Terrorist spawn point.
